Baloch separatists have launched Operation ‘BAAM’, also calling it Operation Dawn, against Pakistani Army. In the past 24 hours, there have been over 50 attacks, numerous kidnappings, and more than 27 deaths reported across Balochistan. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) announced that 18 Pakistani soldiers were killed in an attack on a military camp in Gidar.
Baloch armed groups have escalated their tactics from traditional guerrilla warfare to more organised, territorial assaults. In a particularly harrowing incident, nine Punjabi passengers were forcibly removed from buses and killed in the Zhob area on Thursday evening. Government officials stated that unidentified armed men set up a blockade, checked identity cards, and executed the passengers.
The BLA has also claimed responsibility for a large-scale attack on a military camp in the Gidar area of Suhrab district, stating that 18 security personnel were killed. According to Balochistan officials, around 20 people are missing and are believed to have been kidnapped by the separatists.
Attacks have been reported from areas including Kech, Kharan, Khuzdar, Kalat, Panjgur, Washuk, Musakhel, Sibi, Mastung, Naseerabad, Quetta, Chagai, and Dera Bugti. The Balochistan provincial government has acknowledged this surge in violence and stated that security operations are ongoing in response.
However, independent observers note that the scale and coordination of these attacks are becoming increasingly challenging for authorities to control. This reflects a significant evolution in the operational capabilities of Baloch armed groups, who are now moving from guerrilla tactics to more organised, territorial forms of control.
