Unverified social media posts falsely claim Joe Biden was hospitalised at Walter Reed after similar Trump rumours.

Hours after unverified claims about the health of US President Donald Trump spread online, similar speculation quickly turned towards former President Joe Biden on Saturday.
Posts circulating on X claimed that Biden had been hospitalised at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center or was dealing with a serious medical emergency. The claims were largely pushed by MAGA-linked influencers and appeared to follow the earlier rumours involving Trump.
White House on Trump’s health
Earlier in the day, the White House issued a statement addressing rumours about Trump’s health, which had claimed he was hospitalised at Walter Reed.
White House communications director Steven Cheung said in a post on X, “There has never been a President who has worked harder for the American people than President Trump. On this Easter weekend, he has been working nonstop in the White House and Oval Office."
Viral videos add to confusion
Speculation around Trump began after the White House announced a press “lid" at 11:08 a.m. on Saturday. Soon after, a video circulated online claiming to show Trump being taken to hospital.
However, the footage was from 2024, when he was discharged from a hospital in Butler, Pennsylvania after being shot.
A similar video also went viral, claiming to show a convoy heading to Walter Reed with Biden. According to Grok, the clip was actually edited using footage from a UK highway ambulance.
No confirmation of Biden hospitalisation
However, there have been no confirmed reports from credible news organisations about any recent hospitalisation of Biden. His family and spokesperson have not issued any statement on the claims, which appear to be false.
Biden’s health has drawn attention
Biden’s health has been closely watched for years, largely due to his age and past medical issues.
In May 2025, his office said he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had spread to his bones. It was described as treatable and responsive to hormone therapy.
He later underwent radiation and hormone treatment as part of his care.
After a widely criticised debate performance against Trump, Biden withdrew from the re-election race six months before the vote.
Concerns about his age, health and mental fitness played a role in his decision. He stepped down from office in January.
