Ajit Doval at a Moscow security forum raised the Pakistan backed Pahalgam terror attack, urged unified global action on terrorism.
India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval raised the recent Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 innocent civilian tourists were killed, during a major international security gathering in Moscow, while strongly calling for unified global action against terrorism.
Doval spoke at the first International Security Forum and the 14th Meeting of High Representatives for Security Matters, hosted by Russia’s Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu.
The forum focused on “Challenges and Threats to International Security in the Context of the Emergence of the Multipolar World," bringing together top security officials from several countries.
Referring to the Pahalgam attack, Doval said the victims were killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists and stressed that terrorism remains one of the biggest threats to global stability.
The NSA asserted that there could be “no double standards" in the fight against terrorism, adding that countries must make a clear choice between supporting genuine counter-terror efforts or backing sponsors of terror.
He assured that India remained fully committed to fighting terrorism and said New Delhi would continue working closely with Moscow to eliminate the threat.
Doval also thanked Russia, President Vladimir Putin and Sergei Shoigu for supporting India and condemning the Pahalgam attack.
Highlighting ties between the two countries, Doval described the India-Russia relationship as a deep, long-standing strategic and special partnership, saying the cooperation had become even more important amid the current global geopolitical environment.
His remarks were made in the broader context of international security challenges emerging in a multipolar world, including terrorism, strategic instability and maritime security concerns.
Doval also raised the importance of ensuring safe movement through critical international waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, amid growing tensions in West Asia.
The NSA is also expected to hold multiple bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Moscow forum.
