He further said discussions focused on recent developments in the region and a review of bilateral cooperation.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Monday visited the historic Taj Mahal in Agra along with his wife, Jeanette D Rubio, on third day of his four-day visit to the nation. After this, Rubio reached Jaipur during which he Rubio will tour some of Jaipur’s famous tourist attractions, including Amer Fort and City Palace.

During the first two days of his visit, Rubio held a series of high-level discussions in New Delhi with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. The top aide to US President Donald Trump is expected to return to the national capital for the crucial Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting before wrapping up his India tour on May 26, 2026.

He began his visit to India from the Missionaries of Charity at Kolkata, followed by meeting PM Modi and then later holding delegation-level talks with Jaishankar. Rubio also held discussions with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said negotiations with Iran are progressing positively and claimed a future agreement could become a historic opportunity to reshape the Middle East, while also urging multiple Muslim-majority countries to join the Abraham Accords.

Trump said he had discussed the issue with several regional leaders, including Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

He said he told the leaders that countries involved in discussions around a future Iran settlement should, at minimum, sign onto the Abraham Accords — the US-brokered agreements aimed at normalising ties between Israel and several Arab states.
