An Indian-origin restaurateur in London has announced the closure of his long-running restaurant, citing “rising costs, online harassment, and attacks by Pakistanis" as reasons behind his decision.
Taking to X on Monday, Harman Singh Kapoor, owner of Rangrez in West London’s Hammersmith, announced his decision to close the restaurant after “16 unforgettable years."
“I’ve made the difficult decision to close Rangrez restaurant Hammersmith next month. Rising costs, ongoing online harassment, repeated disturbances and attacks by Pakistanis and a lack of proper support from the Met Police have made it impossible to continue," he wrote.

Kapoor added that he intends to focus on activism without distraction. “Radicals should keep this in mind: you can disrupt my business, but not my will. I’m coming after you stronger now, with no strings attached. Thank you to every genuine customer who supported us over the years. Grateful always," he said.
The post quickly drew attention on social media, with reactions from supporters and critics alike. One user wrote, “Sorry to read this Harman. I too have a business and can agree with rising costs and now I’m in the beginning of getting hassle from some weird people online mainly. Keep going we will get the job done."
Others expressed sympathy and offered help. “Dear Mr.Kapoor, If you like, sell it to me. I will run this restaurant with same name and handle pakistanis appropriately.. Contact me, if you are willing," a user wrote.
Some users, however, criticised Kapoor, questioning the restaurant’s reputation and his handling of business affairs.
Comments included accusations of poor service, high prices, and business irregularities, with one stating, “Wow Harman after investigating you seem to be constantly opening and closing businesses on companies house and conveniently closing this before the tax year end. You’ve done the same with your wife Khushi and daughter Roopleen. @HMRCcustomers clearly conning the taxpayers."
“I believe the issue is the owner. Anyone can go read the glowing reviews: ZERO Stars. Despite high prices suggesting a quality experience, the food was extremely disappointing," another user remarked.
