Hundreds of Iranians took to the streets to mourn the death of the nation’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in the US-Israeli strikes on Saturday morning.

Visuals showed people filling the streets of Tehran and chanting slogans against the United States. “Hundreds of Iranians gather in Tehran in spontaneous mourning for Khamenei. As the first light breaks, crowds fill the streets of the capital", the video was captioned.

At Hazrat Masoumeh shrine in Qom, Central Iran, chants of ‘Death to America’, and ‘Death to Israel’ echoed through the atmosphere.

Another video showed public mourning in Iran has begun following the death of its Supreme Leader.

A black flag was raised above the shrine of Imam Reza in Mashhad to mourn the killing of the Ayatollah, visuals showed. However, News18 doesn’t confirm the veracity of the clip.

“Changing the flag above the shrine of Imam Reza in Mashhad, and raising a black banner in mourning for the martyrdom of the leader of the Revolution and the Islamic Republic in Iran, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei", the caption read.

Another video showed people gathered in the streets of Zanjan to mourn the killing of the Ayatollah.

CELEBRATIONS IN IRAN

Scenes of celebrations were also witnessed in several parts of Iran after the killing of Khamenei, the longest-serving Head of State in the Middle East.

Sharing a video of women dancing on the streets, Former Spokesman for the State of Israel, Eylon A levy wrote, “Iranian women are dancing in the streets—without hair coverings—after hearing that Israel killed the tyrant Khamenei. So many Western leaders should feel ashamed at their cowardly response this morning. We will all remember."

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, 86, was killed in a joint US-Israeli strikes that began Saturday morning. Sharing the news on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Khamenei, one of the most evil people in history, is dead".

“He was unable to avoid our Intelligence and Highly Sophisticated Tracking Systems and, working closely with Israel, there was not a thing he, or the other leaders that have been killed along with him, could do," he said.
