Babar Azam goes past Virat Kohli for huge milestone during PAK vs AUS 3rd T20I, finds form ahead of T20 World Cup 2026

Babar Azam struck form at the right time ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026 during the third and final T20I against Australia, to go past India's Virat Kohli for most fifties in the shortest format of the game. After being dismissed for two and 24 in the previous two games, the former Pakistan captain remained not out on 50 off 36 balls to steer his team past 200.

Batting at no.4, Babar started slow initially before settling in and timed the ball sweetly. While Saim Ayub (56), Shadab Khan (46) and Khawaja Nafay (21) going hard at the other end, Babar held onto one end. It was in the final over, Babar completed his fifty with a single.

In fact, Babar played the anchor role, forging crucial partnerships. He put on 69 runs with Ayub for the third wicket and 57 runs with Shadab Khan for the unbroken fifth wicket as Pakistan reached 207/6 in 20 overs. In the process, Babar eased past former Indian captain Kohli.

While Kohli finished at 38 fifties in T20Is, Babar now has 39 to his name, Another Indian Rohit Sharma is placed third at 32. Notably, both Rohit and Kohli have retired from the shortest format in 2024.
