Amid worldwide energy crisis due to the ongoing Iran-US-Israel war, unidentified armed men blew up a main gas pipeline in the Western Bypass area on Monday night, disrupting gas supply to parts of Quetta and several districts of Balochistan.
A spokesperson for the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) said, “18-inch-diameter pipeline was targeted in Akhtarabad, located on the outskirts of Quetta."

Police said the attackers had planted an explosive device beneath the pipeline, which detonated in the evening and triggered a fire. The blast damaged the pipeline and cut off gas supply to multiple areas in the provincial capital and nearby districts.
According to SSGC, gas supply was affected in Hazara Town, Hazarganji, Khaizi, Nohsar, Pishin, Ziarat, Kalat, Mastung and Kuchlak. Officials said a large section of the pipeline was destroyed in the explosion.
SSGC staff have reached the site, and repair work will begin after security clearance is given. Meanwhile, security forces have been deployed at gas installations across the provincial capital following the incident.
