After the Bangladesh refused to travel to India for the T20 World Cup 2026 last month citing security concerns, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has written a letter to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), in an attempt to improve the relations between the two cricketing boards.
Relations between the two countries went downhill during the Mohammad Yunus-led interim Bangladesh government. But with a new government in place led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, it seems that things are changing for good.
According to a Dainik Jagran report, the BCB has written a letter to the BCCI, mentioning the long-standing and strong relationship between both the cricket boards. The report also stated that the BCB has also requested their neighbours regarding India's six-match white-ball tour of Bangladesh, which was to happen last year in August.
With Bangladesh hosting the next year's Asia Cup, a step back from India could mean that the continental tournament to shift to either Dubai or Sri Lanka. In that case, the BCB could suffer huge financial losses. “A BCB official also acknowledged that they have written to the BCCI, calling it a routine process,” said the report.
