US President Donald Trump said he has cancelled a previously planned second wave of attacks on Venezuela as Caracas is releasing large numbers of political prisoners as a sign of “peace" between the two countries.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the US and Venezuela are working well to rebuild the Latin American country’s oil and gas infrastructure. “Venezuela is releasing large numbers of political prisoners as a sign of “Seeking Peace." This is a very important and smart gesture," he said.

“The USA and Venezuela are working well together, especially as it pertains to rebuilding, in a much bigger, better, and more modern form, their oil and gas infrastructure. Because of this cooperation, I have cancelled the previously expected second Wave of Attacks, which looks like it will not be needed, however, all ships will stay in place for safety and security purposes," he added.

Trump further said he would meet all the big oil companies, who are going to invest $100 billion in Venezuelan oil, at the White House on Friday.
