A new TikTok video has revealed intriguing details about the current dating scene in New York City.

In a recent poll, it was revealed that 45% of men aged 18 to 25 have never approached a woman in person
Dating is a challenge, especially when neither gender is making enough effort to show any interest. However, if someone is keen to be dated and wants to be asked out, what measures can they adopt? It seems that single women in New York City have already stepped up their dating game with desperate yet bold tactics.
A new TikTok video shared by user @nicoleee461 has dropped a bombshell on the current dating scene in New York, highlighting how women are going the extra mile to get asked out. In the video, she explains how several TikTok reels show women heading to Midtown Manhattan during the week and stealing men’s lunches. They then stalk those men on LinkedIn using the name written on the lunch order.
The real game begins after that, when they send a message claiming they accidentally ate the salad, only to offer to make it up to them by planning a date. Sharing her disbelief at such tactics, she said, “Why can’t they just come up to us at a bar? Why is it getting to this point?"
She also offered a quick piece of advice for men, warning them to either step up or risk losing their salad at lunchtime. While there are not many reports of such videos trending online, the idea may seem creepy to some but cute to others.
However, it is important to ask why the dating scene has reached this point. Explaining the psychology behind it, dating coach Blaine Anderson told The New York Post that as many as 53% of men fear being perceived as creepy, which “reduces their likelihood of interacting with women."
Meanwhile, behavioural neuroscientist Alexander, from Date Psychology, polled men aged 18 to 25 and found that almost 45% of them had never approached a woman in person, reports The Post.
While the fear is understandable, it is significantly affecting the dating market, as many genuine men remain single for long periods due to their anxiety around speaking to women. On the other hand, conmen have been scamming single women under the pretext of love and relationships.
