At least more than 60 US military veterans, including several visibly disabled former service members and military family members, were arrested on Monday in Washington, DC after staging a peaceful protest against the US-Israeli war against Iran.
The veterans gathered inside the rotunda of the Cannon House Office Building at Capitol Hill, many dressed in military fatigues. They unfurled banners reading “End the War on Iran" and “We Can’t Afford Another War", standing in formation as they carried out a sit-in calling for an end to US military involvement overseas.
During the demonstration, several participants also held red tulip flowers in solidarity with Iranian civilians. The war began on February 28 following joint US and Israeli airstrikes on Iran.

The group also carried out a flag-folding ceremony, traditionally used to honour fallen American service members. Organisers said it was meant to remember those who died in past wars and to warn against further casualties if the conflict continues or escalates.
According to the Center on Conscience and War (CCW), the protesters were taken into custody by US Capitol Police for civil disobedience. Images and videos from the protest were widely shared on social media.
“This war is already deeply unpopular, and it is already a crisis for the Trump administration," Mike Prysner, executive director of the Center on Conscience and War (CCW), said in a statement before he was arrested.
“More than 100 service members have already started to file as COs. But if even more stand up, and some speak out, we have a real chance of deepening this crisis for Trump in a way that forces them to pull back from this war," he added.
