Elon Musk once again captured global attention- this time not for developments at Tesla, SpaceX or his social media platform X, but for a rare personal revelation about his family. A post by the X handle Tesla Owners Silicon Valley shared a photograph of Elon Musk with his twins, prompting the billionaire entrepreneur to comment publicly on their full names and inspirations.

Responding to the photograph, Elon Musk wrote that he was pictured with his son Strider Sekhar and daughter Comet Azure. He added that Strider Sekhar was named after Aragorn- also known as Strider- from The Lord of the Rings, as well as “great Indian physicist Chandrasekhar." He said Comet Azure was named after what he described as the most powerful spell in the video game Elden Ring.

Strider Sekhar and Comet Azure are twins born in November 2021 to Elon Musk and Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis. The twins were conceived via IVF and have previously been known publicly by their shorter names, Strider and Azure.

The middle name “Sekhar" is widely understood as a reference to Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, the Indian-American astrophysicist who won the Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on stellar evolution. Chandrasekhar’s research fundamentally changed scientific understanding of how stars form, age and collapse.

Elon Musk said his daughter’s name was inspired by a powerful spell from Elden Ring, a critically acclaimed fantasy video game known for its complex lore and devoted fan base.

Elon Musk has a well-documented history of giving his children unconventional and symbolic names. With musician Grimes, he has children named X Æ A-Xii, Exa Dark Sideræl and Techno Mechanicus. He also shares a child named Seldon Lycurgus with Zilis, a name inspired by science fiction author Isaac Asimov and the ancient Spartan lawgiver Lycurgus.
