It seems even MAGA-friendly Fox News hosts are starting to feel like we have a president who cries wolf.
During Tuesday’s episode of “The Five,” news broke that the U.S. bombed Iran in retaliation after the Middle Eastern country shot down a U.S. Army Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz the day before. This is despite President Donald Trump claiming for months that the U.S. and Iran are on the verge of a peace deal.

Considering that Trump’s persistent promise did not line up with his actions, Fox News’ Jesse Watters reacted to the news of the U.S. strike in a real time — and he seemed a bit exasperated.
“The president indicated he does not want to resume major combat operations. He said if we did do that, you’d have the strait closed for another two, three, four months. And he doesn’t want that,” Watters said.
He continued by expressing frustration with the president’s claim that the war will be over any day now.
“And he keeps saying we’re very close. We’re days away. And I don’t know what that means. We’ve heard that for a very long time,” Watters said.
Watters then touched on some of the economic hardships that have been felt globally due to Iran shutting down the Strait of Hormuz in response to the U.S. and Israel’s initial joint attack in February.
“The oil has gone down, and it was closed at, I think, $89 today, but gas prices are very high,” Watters said. “There’s a lot of people in the administration, I think, that would like to see the job finished, and others think that, you know, we’re pretty close…”
“But what do we know?” Watters asked statistically in conclusion.
“Too bad they demonized Tesla, Jesse,” co-host Jessica Tarlov quipped, making a jokey reference to Elon Musk’s electric cars — and reminding viewers that they were indeed watching Fox News.
On Wednesday, Trump said in a post published to his social media platform Truth Social that Iran “will have to pay the price!!!” for prolonging negotiations.
“Well, we’re going to be attacking them, attacking them very hard, resuming bombing,” Trump told reporters at the Oval Office Wednesday. “Yeah, well, we are based on the helicopter; I guess we have the right to do that.”
