The remarks come after Donald Trump said that Iran’s “air defense, Air Force, Navy, and Leadership is gone,"

Iran said it is prepared for a long war.

Iran said it is prepared for a long war.

Iran signalled that it is prepared for a protracted conflict, cautioning against the use of its most potent weapons at the outset, even as US-Israeli airstrikes continue to escalate across the country. Iranian Ministry of Defense spokesman said, “We have prepared for a very long war, and therefore it would be foolish to use our most effective weapons in the very beginning. The enemy has a limited stockpile and everyone is aware of this fact."

The statement comes after US President Donald Trump said on his social media platform Truth Social that Iran’s “air defense, Air Force, Navy, and Leadership is gone," adding: “They want to talk. I said ‘Too Late!’"

Trump’s post included a link to an opinion piece in The Washington Post by Marc Thiessen defending the strikes as part of a new “Trump Doctrine," described as a mix of sanctions, diplomacy and targeted military action without deploying ground troops.

The ongoing strikes in Iran have reportedly killed several senior Iranian leaders, including Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces; General Mohammad Pakpour, Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps; Brigadier General Mohammad Shirazi, Head of the Military Office; Aziz Nasirzadeh, Minister of Defense; Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of Iran’s Defense Council and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Earlier, Iran released a photograph showing rows of freshly dug graves for more than 160 schoolgirls killed in a US-Israeli strike on Shajare Tayyebeh elementary school in Minab, southern Iran.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi posted on X that the graves were for “more than 160 innocent young girls" whose bodies were “torn to shreds" in the bombing.

“This is how ‘rescue’ promised by Mr. Trump looks in reality. From Gaza to Minab, innocents murdered in cold blood," he wrote. The Iranian Red Crescent initially reported the death toll at 108 before provincial authorities confirmed 165 fatalities, including school staff, following the completion of search and debris removal operations.
