Trump’s signature fist pump has been popular since his first time as President. In 2018, he ran into trouble when he was photographed greeting his supporters with a double fist pump at an event marking the 17th anniversary of 9/11 attacks.

More recently, the President pumped his fist moments after nearly being assassinated. The Republican candidate raised a defiant fist to the crowd as he was bundled away to safety, and said afterward: “I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear."

Trump is in Beijing during which he is expected to include a state banquet and a tea reception. The discussions are also expected to cover Taiwan and the ongoing Iran conflict, both seen as major areas of tension between Washington and Beijing. Trade tensions between the world’s two largest economies are expected to dominate discussions. Issues related to Taiwan, China’s rare earth export controls and broader economic ties are also likely to feature prominently during the meetings.
