Global leaders including from Israel, South Korea, Ethiopia, the EU and Italy congratulate PM Modi as he becomes India's longest serving democratically elected Prime Minister.

Congratulations continued to pour in from leaders across the world for Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has become India’s longest-serving democratically elected prime minister with an unbroken tenure of 4,399 days in office, surpassing the record of the country’s first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday highlighted the bilateral friendship that continues to grow between the countries while extending his wishes.

In a post on X, it said: “Congratulations Prime Minister @narendramodi on this historic milestone as India’s longest-serving Prime Minister. India and Israel share a unique friendship that continues to grow stronger with each passing year. Wishing you continued success and looking forward to deepening the partnership between our two nations under his leadership."

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung also extended greetings to PM Modi and pointed out that he has led India’s growth and development. “Over a long period of time, you have led India’s growth and development and played an important role in elevating India’s stature in the international community. I believe this achievement is a result that demonstrates the trust of the Indian people in your leadership," he said.

Recalling Korea-India Special Strategic Partnership, he said: “In April, we gathered our intentions to further develop the Korea-India Special Strategic Partnership and to jointly create a future of growth and innovation. Moving forward, I hope that together with you, we can build trust and friendship, and achieve tangible outcomes that our two countries’ peoples can truly feel. I wholeheartedly wish for your good health and the happiness and prosperity of the Indian people."

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali also congratulated PM Modi while calling him his “elder brother and dear friend".

He said, “I congratulate my elder brother and dear friend H.E @narendramodi on the historic milestone of leading India with vision and determination across three consecutive democratic mandates as India’s longest serving Prime Minister, earning the sustained trust of the world’s largest and most vibrant democracy."

“His governance has lifted millions out of poverty, rolled out digital public infrastructure at population scale, and driven unprecedented infrastructure growth resulting in rapid economic progress. He has been a strong and sustained voice of the Global South," he added.

European Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen and European Council President António Costa also congratulated PM Modi on becoming India’s longest-serving elected prime minister.

Taking to X, Ursula Von Der Leyen said, “Dear Modi, today you’re becoming the longest-serving Prime Minister India has had. Congratulations! With you, India not only landed on the moon, it is shooting for the stars. And so is our friendship."

“From our cooperation on technology, mobility, security and defence all the way to the mother of all trade deals. Thank you for all that we have achieved together," she added.

Meanwhile, Costa said, “Under your visionary leadership, relations between the EU and India are stronger than ever, as evidenced by our historic summit earlier this year. I look forward to our continued cooperation, partnership and friendship."

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said in a post: “Congratulations to @narendramodi who today becomes the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in the history of India."

Referring to their recent meeting in Rome, she added, “It has been a pleasure to meet again in Rome in recent weeks and to launch together a Special Strategic Partnership that looks to the future to create new opportunities for our Nations and our peoples."
