Hillary Clinton Accuses Trump Of Forcing Ukraine Towards ‘Surrender Deal’ With Vladimir Putin

Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton clashed with Czech Deputy Prime Minister Petr Macinka during a panel discussion at the Munich Security Conference. The exchange took place during a session on the future of the West. Clinton criticised US President Donald Trump and warned that his foreign policy could weaken NATO and Western support for Ukraine. She also questioned whether US domestic politics should shape policy towards Europe and Russia.

Debate over Trump’s foreign policy and Ukraine

Macinka defended Trump, saying his agenda was a reaction to what he called liberal overreach in the West.

“I think you really don’t like him," Macinka said as he responded to Clinton’s remarks.

“You know, that is absolutely true," Clinton replied. “But not only do I not like him, but I don’t like what he’s actually doing to the United States and the world."

She said Trump’s actions had weakened Western unity and democratic norms. Macinka said Trump’s political rise reflected frustration among ordinary voters over policies that had gone “too far".

Macinka said Trump’s actions were a reaction to policies that had moved too far from regular people, referring to what he called “woke" ideology and cultural change in the United States.

Clinton described the stand taken by the Trump administration to “force Ukraine into a surrender deal" with Russia President Vladimir Putin as “disgraceful."

“I think that the Trump administration’s position toward Ukraine is disgraceful. I think the effort to force Ukraine into a surrender deal with Putin is shameful. I think the effort that Putin and Trump are making to profit off the misery and death of the Ukrainian people is a historic error and corrupt to the nth degree. So, I believe Ukraine is fighting for our democracy and our values of freedom and civilization on the front lines, losing thousands of people and having their country destroyed by one man’s mania to control them. And I think Trump either doesn’t understand or could care less about that suffering," Clinton said.

Further she said that Trump “has betrayed the West."

Gender Debate

Macinka said Trump’s actions were a reaction to policies that had moved too far from regular people, referring to what he called “woke" ideology and gender revolution in the United States.

Clinton interrupted him after he mentioned gender debates.

“Which gender, women having their rights?" she said.

Macinka replied, “Can I finish my point? I’m sorry it makes you nervous."

He said he believed there were two genders, male and female, and that the rest was probably a social construct. He described this as something that had gone too far.

Clinton responded, “How about half of us, can we have our rights?"

She also asked whether such issues justified “selling out the people of Ukraine, who are on the front lines, dying to save their freedom – and their two genders if that’s what you’re worried about."

Hillary on Trump’s immigration policies

During the same discussion, Clinton spoke about US immigration policy. She said recent immigration crackdowns had caused outrage.

“It went too far, it’s been disruptive and destabilising, and it needs to be fixed in a humane way with secure borders that don’t torture and kill people," she said.

She said there should be secure borders and strong family structures, but opposed expanding a large border wall. She added that enforcement should focus on violent offenders rather than mass immigration raids.

“More people were deported under my husband (Bill Clinton) and Barack Obama without killing American citizens and without putting children into detention camps than were in the first Trump term or this first year of Trump’s second term," she said.
