From Syrian Civil War to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the US First Lady Melania Trump has reportedly played a significant role in shaping the US president's foreign policy.

With US President Donald Trump’s extreme shift in the policy, there is a question that is crossing everybody’s mind — Who is the most influential advisor to Trump? According to several reports, it has been learnt that from the Syrian Civil War to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, it appears that US First Lady Melania Trump has played a significant role in shaping the US president’s foreign policy.

While Trump has briefly acknowledged her stance on the conflicts in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip, no one is aware of her larger role in the recent United States foreign policies.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Melania has been the driving force behind Trump’s policies on Syria and Ukraine. There are also indications that Melania influenced Trump’s change in tone regarding Gaza.

Reportedly, during Trump’s first term (2017-21), Melania was a key factor in his decision to launch airstrikes on Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad’s regime, following a chemical attack on Syrians opposing Assad.

Trump’s airstrikes, intended to deter the use of deadly chemical weapons, marked the first direct US military action against Assad’s forces.

The Telegraph reported that Melania’s horror at videos of children dying from the chemical attack in Khan Shaykun shaped Trump’s decision. In fact, a former White House official has also described her as “highly influential", and stated that she reacted to the human suffering as a mother and shared her gut reaction with her husband.

During Trump’s second term as well, Melania’s criticism of Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s actions versus promises to her husband influenced a shift in US policy. Despite Putin’s conversations with Trump expressing openness to end the war, Russian aerial attacks on Ukraine coincided with these calls, leading Trump to announce fresh weapon deliveries to Ukraine and issue ultimatums to Putin.

Trump also referred to Melania’s impact on his stance regarding Gaza’s hunger crisis. He stated that she found the situation “terrible," reacting emotionally to images of suffering children, which influenced his shift in tone.

Melania’s human-centered perspective has evidently shaped several key decisions in Trump’s foreign policy, demonstrating her significant influence behind the scenes.
