US President Donald Trump has referred to the suspected attacker in the White House press dinner shooting as “radicalised" and “anti-Christian" and said he was probably a “pretty sick guy".
The President, who was present at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner when 31-year-old California man Cole Tomas Allen opened fire, also lauded the Secret Service for doing a “really good job".
“I read a manifesto. He’s radicalised. He was a Christian—a believer—and then he became an anti-Christian… He was probably a pretty sick guy," Trump said in his interview with 60 Minutes.
The President blamed “hate speech" by Democratic leaders for the political violence in America and said that this is very dangerous.
“I’ve been through this before a couple of times, and the First Lady has not to this extent. She handled it great. She’s very strong… We went to a holding room for a while, and I tried to get them to continue the event if possible," he added.
