Tucker Carlson On Trump: Conservative podcaster Tucker Carlson said that he is “tormented" by his support for US President Donald Trump, delivering an extraordinary public apology in which he said he was sorry for “misleading people."
Speaking on The Tucker Carlson Show in a conversation with his brother Buckley Carlson, a former Trump speechwriter, Tucker Carlson reflected on his role in helping Trump return to power and criticised the direction of today’s Republican Party.

“You know, we’ll be tormented by it for a long time – I will be," Tucker Carlson said, adding, “And I want to say I’m sorry for misleading people. It was not intentional, that’s all I’ll say."
Dramatic Break With Trump
Tucker Carlson was once one of Trump’s most influential media allies. He supported Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign and even spoke at a campaign event days before the election but relations between the two have deteriorated sharply in recent months, particularly over US support for Israel and the war involving Iran. Tucker Carlson has repeatedly criticised Trump’s rhetoric on Iran, previously calling the US President’s language “vile on every level."

‘We’re Implicated’, Says Tucker Carlson
Tucker Carlson went beyond policy criticism and said he personally bore responsibility for helping Trump regain office. He told his brother, “You and I and everyone else who supported him … we’re implicated in this for sure. It’s not enough to say, ‘Well, I changed my mind’ … In very small ways, but in real ways, you and me and millions of people like us are the reason this is happening right now."
Trump Previously Attacked Tucker Carlson
The latest fallout comes after Trump recently lashed out at Tucker Carlson and other right-wing media personalities who have criticised him. In a social media post, Trump called Tucker Carlson “a Low IQ person – Always easy to beat, and highly overrated!!!" The US President also threatened to publish a ranking list of MAGA figures who were loyal, disloyal or “somewhere in the middle."

Tucker Carlson’s criticism of Trump has intensified over the past month. Earlier in April, he told Newsmax that Trump was “hemmed in by other forces" and compared him to “a slave" unable to make independent decisions. He also questioned Trump’s attacks on Pope Leo XIV and even speculated on his podcast whether Trump could be “the antichrist," citing the president’s mockery of Christianity and an AI-generated image of himself as Jesus Christ.
