The company has introduced Dual and Phase, two wearable headbands that claim to bridge the gap between sleep and conscious exploration

Until these devices land on the foreheads of consumers in late 2026, the question remains whether Prophetic is selling a revolution in consciousness or merely a very expensive headband. Representational image
Prophetic AI, the neurotechnology startup previously known for its “Halo" prototype, has officially announced the commercial rollout of its dream-control hardware. In a reveal on social media site X, the company introduced Dual and Phase, two wearable headbands that claim to bridge the gap between sleep and conscious exploration. With price points ranging from accessible to premium, Prophetic is betting that the public is ready to pay for “lucid dreaming as a service".
Dual: The Entry-Level Dreamer
The Prophetic Dual serves as the company’s introductory model, retailing at $449. According to technical specifications, the device utilises two ultrasonic transmitters combined with a Fresnel lens focusing system to target the prefrontal cortex—the area of the brain responsible for self-awareness. By upregulating this region during REM sleep, the Dual aims to gently nudge users into a state where they realise they are dreaming. For those eager to start their “Inception" journey, Prophetic has slated the first units to begin shipping at the end of 2026.

Phase: High-Fidelity Consciousness
For the more serious “oneironaut", the Prophetic Phase commands a significant premium at $1299. The primary differentiator for the Phase is its ability to provide spatial control over ultrasonic delivery. This level of precision reportedly allows for more granular control over dream perception and memory. However, the sophisticated engineering required for this spatial targeting has pushed its release date further out, with shipping expected to commence in the middle of 2027.
The Science and the Scepticism
Prophetic AI’s technology relies on Transcranial Focused Ultrasound (TUS), a non-invasive method of neural stimulation. While the company claims a “100x cost reduction" over comparable research-grade ultrasound systems, the medical community remains cautious. Critics have raised valid concerns regarding the long-term safety of nightly brain stimulation and whether a consumer-grade headband can truly replicate the precise targeting found in laboratory settings. Furthermore, the psychological impact of blurring the lines between waking life and controlled dreaming is still a largely unmapped frontier. Some X users have also cheekily asked whether the company would be running advertisements in the middle of dreams.
As the ship of innovation sails into these uncharted subconscious waters, the promise of “epic dreams" for the price of a mid-range smartphone is undeniably alluring. Yet, until these devices land on the foreheads of consumers in late 2026, the question remains whether Prophetic is selling a revolution in consciousness or merely a very expensive headband.
