India, Slovakia Elevate Ties To Comprehensive Partnership During PM Modi's Landmark Visit

PM Modi also praised his Slovak counterpart Robert Fico for playing a significant role in elevating India-Slovakia relations to new heights.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday announced that India has elevated its ties with Slovakia to a Comprehensive Partnership during his historic visit to the European country, saying this reflected the shared trust, common priorities and a shared vision of the future between the two countries.

PM Modi arrived in Slovakia to a warm welcome on Sunday, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the country since its independence in 1993. He held delegation-level talks with his Slovak counterpart, Robert Fico, in Bratislava on Monday, and the two leaders also visited an art exhibition.

Speaking alongside Fico, Modi expressed gratitude to the Slovak PM, calling him a “true friend of India". The Prime Minister said Fico’s unwavering commitment has played a significant role in elevating India-Slovakia relations to new heights.

“This is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia. I am delighted that on this historic occasion, we have decided to elevate our relations to a Comprehensive Partnership. This symbolises our shared trust, shared priorities, and a shared future," he said.
