Indian-origin Tesla vice president Raj Jegannathan announced his exit from the electric vehicle maker after spending around 13 years at the Elon Musk-led company. Raj Jegannathan shared the update in a LinkedIn post, describing his journey at Tesla as one marked by “continuous evolution". He reflected on working across multiple functions, from technology and artificial intelligence to sales and security.

“From the technical intricacies of designing, building, and operating one of the largest AI clusters to impactful contributions in IT, security, sales, and service, it has been a privilege to serve," he wrote. Raj Jegannathan said developing an end-to-end understanding of the business helped teams deploy AI to deliver meaningful outcomes across products and customer support.

In his message to colleagues, he thanked Tesla teams for their collaboration and learning, adding that he was leaving with “a full heart and excitement for what lies ahead". He did not disclose his future plans.

Who Is Raj Jegannathan?

Raj Jegannathan joined Tesla in 2012 as a technical expert in cloud security and IT and steadily rose through the ranks. Over the years, he served as Vice President of IT, AI Infrastructure, Applications and Information Security and later took on additional responsibilities overseeing sales operations in North America.

Before joining Tesla, Raj Jegannathan held senior roles at global technology companies, including Oracle, where he worked as a senior product manager on database optimisation tools and Microsoft, where he was part of the Azure team focused on AI-driven insights.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Raj Jegannathan completed his schooling at ARLM Matric Higher Secondary School and earned a BSc in Computer Science from St Joseph’s College of Arts and Science in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu. At Tesla, Raj Jegannathan was among the executives who reported directly to CEO Elon Musk. His departure comes amid a series of senior exits at the company in recent years.
