Two Indian women lost their lives in unrelated incidents in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, last week, in what authorities are describing as deeply tragic and disturbing cases.

In the first incident, a 46-year-old Indian woman was killed after a fire broke out in her apartment in the Al Majaz area of Sharjah, according to a report by Gulf News quoting local authorities. The woman, whose identity has not been publicly disclosed, was reportedly performing a special ritual in her home when the blaze erupted.

The fire started late on Thursday on the eighth floor of an 11-storey residential building. According to the report, the blaze was contained to the woman’s unit and did not spread to other apartments. Emergency services, including Civil Defence teams and police, responded swiftly to the distress call, but the woman could not be saved. Her body was sent for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, and police have launched an investigation to identify the cause of the fire and any potential safety violations.

In a separate and equally grim incident, a 20-year-old Indian woman allegedly killed her infant daughter before dying by suicide. The incident occurred last Tuesday afternoon at the family’s apartment in Sharjah. According to Gulf News, initial investigations indicated that the woman was responsible for the death of her one-year-old child.

Authorities said there were visible marks on the young woman’s neck, indicating suicide, as confirmed by the examining doctor. Her body was transferred to a local hospital and then to the forensic laboratory for a detailed autopsy.
