Iran on Monday claimed it carried out drone strikes against US military vessels in the Sea of Oman, hours after American forces intercepted and seized an Iranian-flagged commercial ship near the Strait of Hormuz, escalating tensions between the two sides despite a fragile ceasefire.
According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency, the drone attacks were launched in retaliation for US action against the Iranian vessel earlier in the day.
While Tehran asserted that US naval assets were targeted, it did not disclose details on the number of drones used, the extent of the operation, or whether the strikes caused any damage.
