Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence announced on Monday that it has uncovered a large cache of weapons concealed inside a foreign transit truck, state media reported.

According to the ministry, the shipment included 273 handguns, Winchester rifles and other firearms that were “skillfully hidden" in the vehicle during transit. The authorities said the find was made during routine inspections of cargo entering the country and described the discovery as a serious security breach.

A CCTV recording has surfaced showing the interior of Abuzar Mosque in Tehran being vandalised on Thursday, a day before the mosque was set on fire, according to media reports. The footage reportedly shows damage to the prayer hall and interior fixtures amid ongoing unrest in the country.

The incident comes as Iran continues to witness widespread protests that began over rising prices late last month and later expanded into broader demonstrations against the political system. Authorities have accused “hostile elements" of targeting public and religious sites during the unrest.
