Iran Says US Strikes Have Rendered Ceasefire ‘Meaningless’, Warns Of Escalation Consequences

United States launched a fresh round of strikes on multiple Iranian targets, with US Central Command (CENTCOM) describing the attacks as “self-defense strikes" ordered by Trump.

Iran’s foreign ministry on Thursday said that recent US attacks on Iran have effectively rendered the April 8 ceasefire “meaningless," and warned that Washington would bear responsibility for the “very dangerous consequences of the escalation."

The ministry issued a sharp warning over the growing tensions, stating that the latest strikes have undermined the ceasefire arrangement and pushed the situation into a more volatile phase.

It further cautioned that any regional country allowing the United States to use its territory or military facilities to plan or carry out attacks would be “placing itself alongside the attackers," signalling possible broader regional repercussions amid the escalation.

While warning of further strikes, the US President has also maintained that a deal remains possible if Iran accepts Washington’s terms.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Thursday said it had launched ballistic missiles at a US command centre in Jordan, according to Iranian state media reports.

Calling the operation a “punitive operation against the aggressor," the IRGC said the strike targeted the Al-Azraq Air Base and its control centre. The claim was carried by the Tasnim news agency.

The IRGC further stated that 12 ballistic missiles were used in the attack, and alleged that the strike destroyed the targeted facilities along with a “large number of fighter aircraft."
