Dramatic visuals emerging from Bahrain showed explosions lighting up the sky as Iran’s missile and drone campaign targeted US military assets. The videos showed streaks of light cutting across the Bahraini sky as air defence systems intercept incoming projectiles, with multiple mid-air explosions visible against the darkness.

The strikes on Bahrain were part of a sweeping wave of Iranian attacks across multiple Gulf states that stretched from Iraq to Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Kuwait.

In Iraq, forces shot down a drone that attempted to attack a United States military base near Baghdad International Airport. The drone targeted Victoria airbase and was intercepted before reaching it. Videos showed the drone crash in the Al-Bu’aitha area of Baghdad.

In a separate incident, a boat struck an oil tanker flying the flag of the Bahamas in the Iraqi port of Khor al-Zubair, causing damage and an oil spill.

Qatar’s defence ministry said the country was targeted by 14 ballistic missiles and four drones from Iran. Thirteen missiles were intercepted and one fell in Qatar’s territorial waters. All drones were intercepted and no casualties were reported. Authorities sent out an “elevated" emergency alert to residents and ordered evacuation of those living near the US Embassy in Doha as a precautionary measure.

In the UAE, six people were injured by falling debris from drones intercepted over Abu Dhabi. Saudi Arabia shot down a drone near the al-Jawf region. In Oman, an oil storage tank was damaged. Kuwait reported an explosion on board an oil tanker outside its territorial waters, with all crew safe but an oil spill risk flagged.

Iran’s IRGC said it fired 230 drones at several facilities hosting US troops across the Middle East, including a base in Erbil in northern Iraq and the Ali Al Salem airbase and Camp Arifjan in Kuwait.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed neighbouring countries directly, saying Iran had sought to avert war through diplomacy but US-Israel attacks left it “with no choice" but to retaliate. Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei warned that EU countries will “pay the price, sooner or later" if they remain silent over the joint attacks on Iran.
