Iranian State TV Anchor Breaks Down On Air While Announcing Khamenei's Death | Video

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Supreme Leader of Iran, was killed in US-Israel strikes on Saturday.

West Asia Conflict: Iranian State Media presenter sobbed and broke down as he announced the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in the US-Israel joint strikes on Saturday.

“God is great. God is great. With deep sorrow, it is announced to the nation of Iran that Grand Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, was martyred today in a joint criminal attack by the United States and the Zionist regime," the anchor can be heard saying, before breaking down.

Others can be heard crying off-screen in the studio as the newsreader announces Khamenei’s death to the nation.

During a live broadcast on Khamenei, PressTV anchor Maryam Azarchehr also broke down on air as she announced the news.

“Today, those mourning him will be the orphans across the world, as the orphans once mourned Imam Ali, peace be upon him," she said, adding “Today the devils of the world will celebrate — and everybody they have managed to brainwash."

“This is not over. Trump is going to pay a price — a price paid by no American president at any time, paid by no Zionist, paid by no criminal of all time," she said, adding, “Revenge is coming. Revenge is coming soon. It is coming after Trump and after everybody who facilitated this assassination. He will pay the ultimate price."

She added that retaliation would not come “only from the millions of Iranians" or from “resistance countries," but also from those “who have newly joined the resistance — Americans, Europeans — who saw the legacy of Imam Khomeini against Zionism."

On another state channel, IRINN, a stone-faced anchor read a sober statement from the Supreme National Security Council — as verses from the Quran played in the background, according to the BBC.

The security council statement said that Khamenei’s death would spark “an uprising in the fight against the oppressors."

Khamenei Killed In Airstrikes

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in recent strikes launched by Israel and the US. The Iranian government also announced 40 days of mourning following the killing of Khamenei.

According to Israel’s Channel 12, a photograph of Khamenei’s body was shown to Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Following the Khamenei’s killing, Iranian National Security Council said the assassination will be the launchpad for a great uprising against the tyrants.

Khamenei’s family were also killed in the strikes that began on Saturday morning, including his daughter, grandchild, daughter-in-law and son-in-law.

Iran’s Defence Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh and the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Mohammad Pakpour, were also reported killed in the strikes.
