Turkey’s strategic community has expressed growing concern over reports of closer defence cooperation between India and Greece, particularly regarding the possible sale of advanced Indian missile systems to Athens.

According to Turkish defence publication TurDef, discussions around Greece potentially acquiring India’s BrahMos supersonic cruise missile have gained attention in Turkish security circles. Reports in Greek and Turkish media have suggested that Athens is exploring options to strengthen its deterrence capability in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean regions.

As per media reports, Turkish analysts believe Greece could also attempt to obtain Indian missile systems indirectly through Cyprus to avoid legal and diplomatic complications linked to direct procurement.

Turkish defence analyst Ardan Zentürk reportedly warned that the growing strategic partnership between New Delhi and Athens could alter the regional military balance. According to reports published by Turkish and Indian defence media outlets, concerns have been raised over India’s BrahMos missile and the Long-Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LR-LACM).

The BrahMos missile, jointly developed by India and Russia, is regarded as one of the world’s fastest operational supersonic cruise missiles. It can be launched from land, sea and air platforms.

According to Turkish media reports, Zentürk argued that highly accurate Indian missile systems deployed near the Eastern Mediterranean could pose a challenge to Turkey’s strategic assets and existing air defence network, including the Russian-made S-400 system. However, there has been no official confirmation from India, Greece or Cyprus regarding any such missile arrangement.

Some Turkish commentators have linked these developments to Ankara’s support for Pakistan on international issues, including Kashmir. Turkish analysts have also reportedly pointed to India’s expanding defence exports and growing military partnerships in Europe as signs of New Delhi’s increasing geopolitical influence.

As per media reports, Turkish nationalist political analyst Rauf Köse also expressed concern over the possibility of Greece acquiring Indian missiles. Reports claim he warned that Turkey should remain prepared against any future strategic threat emerging in the Eastern Mediterranean. However, these remarks have not been officially verified.

Several online defence platforms and regional media outlets have additionally claimed that Cyprus has shown interest in Indian-made missile systems and drones after observing India’s recent military advancements.

Despite the speculation, no official statement has been issued by New Delhi, Athens or Nicosia confirming negotiations for the transfer or deployment of Indian missile systems in the region.
