Israel on Monday launched airstrikes targeting ports and facilities held by Yemen’s Houthi rebels. As per the officials, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) struck Houthi-held ports at Hodeida, Ras Isa and Salif, as well as the Ras Kanatib power plant. The Houthi rebels responded with missile fire targeting Israel.Their military spokesman, Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree, stated its air defence forces “effectively confronted" the Israelis without offering evidence.
IDF said the strikes come after at least three Houthi ballistic missiles were launched at Israel after the ceasefire. Notably, this is the second attack after the ceasefire between the two countries. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is currently in Washington for his third meeting with US President Donald Trump this year.
The ports targeted by the defence forces are used by the Houthi terrorist regime to transfer weapons from the Iranian regime, which are employed to carry out terrorist operations against the state of Israel and its allies, the Israeli military claimed after the attacks on Monday.
These attacks came after a suspected Houthi attack targeting a ship in the Red Sea that caught fire and took on water, later forcing its crew to abandon the vessel. According to lieutenant colonel Nadav Shoshani of the IDF.
Shoshani shared an update on X and posted, “STRUCK AND DESTROYED: Military targets belonging to the Houthi terrorist regime at the ports of Al Hudaydah, Ras Isa, Salif, and the Ras Kanatib Power Plant. These strikes were in response to repeated Houthi attacks against Israel and demonstrate the regime’s systematic use of civilian infrastructure for terrorism."
“These ports are used to transfer Iranian weapons, which the Houthis employ in terrorist operations against Israel and its allies," he added.
