Vice President JD Vance had a convenient excuse when asked about his administration’s pesky Jeffrey Epstein problem.
As questions persist about President Donald Trump’s relationship to Epstein and why the government hasn’t released more information about investigations into the disgraced financier, Vance reminded Fox News viewers that plenty of Democrats had their own Epstein links.
“We know that Jeffrey Epstein had a lot of connections with left-wing politicians and left-wing billionaires,” Vance told Maria Bartiromo during an interview on this weekend’s edition of “Sunday Morning Futures.”
While exposing the so-called Epstein files was once a top priority for Trump’s base, the president’s own personal history with the convicted sex offender has since complicated that campaign promise.
Dismissing Democrats’ demands for answers as ill-timed and politically motivated, he said, “I laugh at the Democrats who are now all of a sudden so interested in the Epstein files. For four years, Joe Biden and the Democrats did absolutely nothing about this story.”
JD Vance: "We know that Jeffrey Epstein had a lot connections with left-wing politicians and left-wing billionaires ... Democrat billionaires and Democrat political leaders went to Epstein island all the time. Who knows what they did."
— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar.com) 2025-08-10T14:32:40.600ZWhen Bartiromo asked about Republican Rep. James Comer’s decision to subpoena President Bill Clinton and his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, to testify in congress about their Epstein associations, Vance returned to his original argument.
“Democrats have tried to make this Epstein thing about anything but the fact that Democrat billionaires and Democrat political leaders went to Epstein island all the time,” Vance said. “Who knows what they did.”
There’s little debate over Epstein’s connections to rich and powerful people across the political spectrum.
Court documents unsealed in 2024 include the names of Clinton, his Vice President Al Gore, Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates, the Democratic Gov. of New Mexico Bill Richardson, British royal Prince Andrew, actor Kevin Spacey and late pop icon Michael Jackson, and, of course, Trump.

The Trump camp’s change of heart regarding the release of the Epstein files has drawn intense scrutiny, however, especially following reports that Attorney General Pam Bondi told the president his name appeared in yet-to-be released investigation materials back in May.
