A family in Karnataka’s Chikkamagaluru has approached the central government after losing contact with their son, who is reportedly in Iran, which is now embroiled in conflict following the coordinated US–Israeli strikes on February 28.

Nishchit, a Kannadiga youth working in the merchant navy, had travelled to Iran six months ago. According to his parents, who live in Hirekodige village of Koppa taluk, he last spoke to his father eight days back and informed him that he would be heading to Kuwait.

Since then, the family has been unable to communicate with him, leaving them deeply distressed. Unaware of his whereabouts, the parents have appealed for assistance from the Central government to help trace him and ensure his safe return.

As tensions continue in the region, the lack of contact has only heightened the family’s fear and uncertainty.

MIDDLE EAST CRISIS

On February 28, Israel and the United States launched coordinated strikes against Iran amid stalled negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear programme. In retaliation, Tehran unleashed attacks targeting Gulf nations, calling them “legitimate targets" and pushing West Asia into a renewed military confrontation.
