Ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026, toy manufacturer Lego released an advertisement featuring Argentina's World Cup winner Lionel Messi and Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo, while announcing their football collection sets.

The ad campaign is titled “Everyone wants a piece”, and also features Brazil's Vinicius Junior and France's Kylian Mbappe.

The advertisement displays each of the four football stars interacting with their Lego bricks, and even trying to build a replica of the FIFA World Cup trophy.

Last time when Messi and Ronaldo featured in an ad

The last time both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo featured in an advertisement together was for Louis Vuitton's “Victory is a State of Mind” campaign ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup that was held in Qatar. That campaign featured Messi and Ronaldo facing each other in a game of chess by using Louis Vuitton Damier attaché case as the chessboard.

That photo was taken by renowned American photographer Annie Leibovitz, and became one of the most liked photos in Instagram history, with more than 75 million likes across all social media platforms within the first week.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 tournament will be held from 11 June to 19 July, and will be held across three countries- the USA, Canada and Mexico. For the first time, as many as 48 teams will compete in the tournament, and the teams have been divided into 12 groups of four.

Argentina are the defending champions, having beaten France 4-2 in the penalties of the FIFA World Cup 2022 final in Qatar. Argentina are in Group J along with Algeria, Jordan and Austria.

Portugal, on the other hand, are in Group K, along with DR Congo, Uzbekistan and Colombia. Portugal have never won the FIFA World Cup, and will be hoping to do so in what could be Cristiano Ronaldi's final international tournament in national colours.
