King Charles III will visit Washington, New York and Virginia April 27-30, join Zohran Mamdani at the 9/11 Memorial, address Congress, and meet Donald Trump.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani will join King Charles III for a wreath-laying ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial during the monarch’s upcoming visit to the United States, his office said on Friday.

The ceremony will take place at the site of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center, where nearly 3,000 people were killed, including 67 British nationals. The attacks, carried out by militants from al-Qaeda, remain the deadliest in US history.

Officials said there are no plans for a private meeting between King Charles and the mayor during the visit.

The British monarch is scheduled to travel to Washington, D.C., New York and Virginia from April 27 to April 30 as part of a state visit.

During the trip, King Charles will deliver a joint address to the US Congress—marking the first such address by a British monarch since Queen Elizabeth II spoke in 1991.

US President Donald Trump is also expected to meet the king privately and host a state banquet in honour of him and Queen Camilla.

The visit comes at a time of strained relations between the United States and the United Kingdom. Trump recently suggested that King Charles could play a role in improving ties between the two allies.

“I know him well… he’s a brave man, and he’s a great man. They would absolutely be a positive," Trump said in remarks to the BBC.
