The off-duty New York City police officer, who was among the four people killed in a shooting at a midtown Manhattan office building, was identified as 36-year-old Didarul Islam.
According to multiple reports, Didarul Islam was an immigrant from Bangladesh and a four-year veteran of the New York Police Department.
Islam is survived by his wife, who is currently eight months pregnant, and two sons, reports claimed.

The suspect in the shooting was identified as Shane Tamura, of Nevada, two people briefed on the investigation told the Associated Press.
He was later neutralised in police action.
The Fire Department of New York said emergency crews were called to the Park Avenue office building around 6.30 pm, after they were reported of a shooting.
The building houses some of the country’s top financial firms and the National Football League.
