Only one in four Americans approves strikes by US on Iran that have plunged the Middle East into chaos, while about half believe President Donald Trump ‌is too willing to use military force, according to a poll by Reuters/Ipsos.

Reuters reported that some 27% of respondents said they approved of the strikes, which were conducted alongside Israeli attacks on Iran, while 43% disapproved and 29% were not sure.

The poll, which ended on Sunday, stated that 56% of citizens view Trump, who has also ordered strikes in Venezuela, Syria and Nigeria, is too willing to use military force to advance US interests. This included majority of Democrats (87%) and 23% of Republicans and 60% of people who don’t identify with either political party.

Meanwhile, Trump suggested he wasn’t concerned, stating that he has “to do the right thing."

“I don’t think the polling is low," he said. “Look, whether polling is low or not, I think the polling is probably fine. But it’s not a question of polling. You cannot let Iran, who’s a nation that has been run by crazy people, have a nuclear weapon."

He further said that he believes “people are very impressed" with the US military actions in Iran, adding, “I think it’s a silent — if you did a real poll, the silent poll — and it’s like a silent majority."

US President Donald Trump on Monday said that the US attack on Iran is meeting its goals ahead of schedule but also warned the war could go “far longer" than his initial estimates of about a month, saying that there is “nothing boring about it."

Speaking during a Medal of Honor ceremony at the White House, Trump addressed the ongoing military operations against Iran, stating that the United States is already ahead of its projected timeline for the conflict.

he decided to launch a war against Iran because it was the “last, best chance" to halt what he described as Tehran’s nuclear weapons ambitions and curb its support for armed proxy groups across West Asia.

“This was our last, best chance to strike, what we’re doing right now, and eliminate the intolerable threats posed by this sick and sinister regime," Trump added.
