Pakistan has extended its restriction on Indian civilian and military aircraft from using its airspace for another month, with the ban now remaining in force until June 24, according to a Notice to Airmen (Notam) issued by the Pakistan Airports Authority on Tuesday.

The earlier extension was scheduled to end on May 24. The fresh extension came into effect on May 19 at 10.40 am and will remain valid until 4.59 am on June 24, according to a report in news outlet Dawn.

“Pakistan airspace not available for Indian registered aircraft and aircraft operated/owned or leased by Indian airlines/operators, including military flights," the Notam stated.

The restriction applies to both of Pakistan’s flight information regions — Karachi (OPKR) and Lahore (OPLR).

India and Pakistan have barred each other’s airlines from using their airspace since late April 2025, following heightened tensions after the deadly attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.

On April 24, Pakistan announced a series of retaliatory measures against India, including the immediate closure of its airspace to all Indian-owned and Indian-operated airlines.

In response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people, India launched Operation Sindoor in May 2025. Under the operation, the Indian Armed Forces carried out precision strikes on terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

According to the Indian government, the operation targeted nine terror sites linked to groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. Officials described the strikes as “focused, measured and non-escalatory."
