Pakistan And Afghanistan War News Today: Amid escalating tensions and cross-border strikes, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday issued a stern warning to Afghanistan, saying that Islamabad’s armed forces can “crush" aggressors.

“Our forces have the full capability to crush any aggressive ambitions," Sharif said, according to the Pakistani government’s X account, as reported by news agency AFP.

“The entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the Pakistan armed forces," he said.

Pakistan-Afghanistan Cross-Border Strikes

The Prime Minister’s warning came amid intensifying hostilities that have pushed relations between Islamabad and Kabul to one of their lowest points in recent years. Pakistan carried out airstrikes targeting Afghan cities, including Kabul, Kandahar and Paktia, after a fresh round of clashes between the two sides on Friday.

The confrontation involved airstrikes, artillery exchanges and ground assaults across multiple sectors along the disputed Durand Line, with both governments issuing sharply conflicting claims about casualties and territorial gains.

Pakistani authorities claimed the attacks destroyed ammunition depots and several Afghan military installations.

Pakistan further asserted that its forces eliminated 133 Afghan Taliban and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) fighters during overnight clashes. The strikes followed retaliatory military actions by Afghanistan.

Afghan Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed the Pakistani strikes but said there were no casualties.

Afghan authorities said that their forces launched cross-border attacks late Thursday in response to earlier Pakistani airstrikes on Afghan territory. Afghan officials claimed the operations targeted Pakistani military installations along the Durand Line, the disputed border separating the two countries.

Mujahid said that Afghan forces had launched “wide-ranging retaliatory operations" against Pakistani military positions in the directions of Kandahar and Helmand. The Ministry of National Defence of Afghanistan claimed that 55 Pakistani soldiers were killed and several posts captured during retaliatory operations along the Durand Line. Pakistan has not confirmed those figures.

Pakistan Declares ‘Open War’ With Afghanistan

Earlier today, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif declared an “open war" with Afghanistan’s Taliban government, saying that Islamabad’s patience has reached its limit.

“Our cup of patience has overflowed. Now it is open war between us and you. Now it will be ‘Dama Dam Mast Qalandar.’ Pakistan’s army did not come from across the seas. We are your neighbors; we know your ins and outs. Allahu Akbar," he said.

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi described the military action as a “befitting response," saying Pakistan’s armed forces acted after Afghan forces allegedly attacked Pakistani border troops.

Later, in an X post, Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari mentioned, “Pakistan will not compromise on peace and territorial integrity."

“Our armed forces’ response is comprehensive and decisive. Those who mistake our peace for weakness will face a strong response – and no one will be beyond reach," he added.

The latest violence threatens a fragile Qatar-mediated ceasefire that had largely held despite months of tensions and intermittent exchanges of fire.
