Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Israel in the last week of February. According to sources, official dates are likely to be announced shortly.

For New Delhi, this visit is important to show that India is an active stakeholder and shaping outcomes through technology, security cooperation, and economic stability.

According to sources, relationship with Israel is important as India is a balancing partner with Gulf also.

The ground work between the two governments is already underway, indicating the visit is firmly on track.

The visit

The focus of the visit will be future-facing cooperation, especially in science and technology, defence innovation, quantum technologies, cyber security, and advanced agriculture, sectors. These are the areas where India–Israel collaboration has already delivered tangible outcomes.

Multiple MoUs are expected, covering culture, defence cooperation, science and technology, cyber security, and quantum research.

According to sources, this is a shift from transactional defence ties to long-term strategic and knowledge based partnerships.

Beyond the bilateral agenda, the visit carries a strong regional message.

India is actively and confidently engaged in the Middle East, positioning itself as a stable, technology-driven partner and huge market. Sources in the government say this is important visit at a time of geopolitical instability and security realignments in the region.

PM Modi spoke with Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January spoke with his Israeli counterpart, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to convey New Year greetings and review progress in the India-Israel Strategic Partnership.

In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, “Glad to speak with my friend, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and convey New Year greetings to him and the people of Israel. We discussed ways to further strengthen the India-Israel Strategic Partnership in the year ahead."

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal in November met Netanyahu and other senior officials to strengthen economic, technological, and strategic ties between the two countries.

During his meetings, Goyal conveyed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s warm regards to Netanyahu and updated him on discussions with Israel’s Minister of Economy Nir Barkat, as well as the outcomes of the Business Forum and CEOs Forum, which included over 60 Indian business leaders. The Union Minister is in Israel for a three-day visit.
