Rap star Nicki Minaj declared on Wednesday that she is US President Donald Trump’s “number one fan," saying that criticism of him only strengthens her support.
The 43-year-old singer-songwriter, known for hits such as Starships and Super Bass, spoke at an event promoting so-called “Trump Accounts," which provide trust funds for children. She joined Trump on stage, wearing a white furry coat, and spoke directly to the audience about her admiration for the president.
“I will say that I am probably the president’s number one fan, and that’s not going to change," Minaj said. “And the hate or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all. It actually motivates me to support him more."

She added that she would not allow Trump’s critics to “get away with bullying him and the smear campaigns. It’s not going to work."
She also said: “He has a lot of force behind him, and God is protecting him. Amen."
Trump, who earlier joked about growing his nails to emulate Minaj’s style, held her hand as another speaker took the stage.
Minaj, originally from Trinidad, is widely recognised for her musical versatility and bold fashion choices. She has also become increasingly vocal about her political views, shifting from criticising Trump’s hardline immigration policies to praising his leadership in recent years.
In November, Minaj made headlines with a surprise appearance at the United Nations, calling for an end to faith-based persecution in Nigeria – a claim the Nigerian government disputes.
