Two police officers were injured in a shooting in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Tuesday, authorities said. A suspect was killed during the incident, according to Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small Sr.

The shooting occurred in the 100 block of North Florida Avenue, prompting a major police response. Aerial footage from the scene showed a heavy law enforcement presence as authorities secured the area and launched an investigation.

Further details about the condition of the injured officers and the circumstances leading to the shooting were not immediately available.

This was the second shooting incident in the US within 24 hours. Earlier, at least six people, including the suspect, were killed in a shooting spree at multiple locations across Iowa.

Authorities are investigating the fatal shootings of six people who they believe were killed by a relative who took his own life when confronted by police.
