The Reagan National Airport near Washington, DC, on Thursday experienced a tense moment after a suspicious package was found in a break room, prompting the immediate evacuation of Concourse D.
“Around 9 am, a suspicious package was located in a break room. The Airports Authority police established a perimeter for safety until the item can be cleared, that included moving passengers out of the D Concourse," the Reagan Airport said on its X handle.

The item was cleared by the Arlington County Fire Department about 10:20 am, and the airport announced that operations were returning to normal. “Passengers are urged to reconfirm flight times and gate assignments with their airline," it said.
Officials have not provided any details about what the package looked like or what it contained. It does not appear to be having a significant impact on flight times from the D Concourse at this time. No injuries were reported, according to Fox News.
Concourse D is in the airport’s Terminal 2 and serves American Airlines. More than 100 flights in or out of DCA were delayed on Thursday morning, according to FlightAware, but it’s unclear how many delays may be linked to the evacuation.
The disruption came as the US Transportation Security Administration employees are working without paychecks during a partial government shutdown affecting the Department of Homeland Security.
