Pop star Taylor Swift has asked the US government to block a bedding company’s attempt to trademark the phrase “Swift Home", arguing it could mislead consumers into thinking she had endorsed the products.
Swift’s legal team said that the way Cathay Home styled the word “Swift" in its branding closely resembled the singer’s trademarked cursive signature. This, they argued, could create a “false association" and cause customers to believe the pop star was involved with the company.
Cathay Home, founded in New York, sells bedding items such as pillows, mattresses and sheets through major retailers including Bed Bath & Beyond, Target and Nordstrom.
The company applied for the federal “Swift Home" trademark last year.

Swift’s company, TAS Rights Management LLC, filed an appeal with the US Patent and Trademark Office on Wednesday. The filing states that Swift owns federal trademarks covering the use of her name and signature on bedding, clothing, and products related to her music.
Her legal team said Cathay Home’s proposed trademark would likely mislead consumers and was intended to benefit from Swift’s “goodwill and recognition" without permission.
With a net worth exceeding $1 billion, the 14-time Grammy winner recently wrapped up her Eras tour, the highest-grossing concert tour ever. She has also secured more than 300 trademarks in the US and abroad, covering her name, initials, album titles and even some lyrics.
