A 30-year-old man allegedly lured his partner and their young daughter to a stadium parking lot in Texas before shooting them dead in what police have described as a premeditated attack, according to a New York Post report.
The accused, identified as John Mbuyi, opened fire on Raissa Thatukila (33) and their six-year-old daughter outside Birdville Stadium in Haltom City on Friday. Investigators said the victims had been called to the location under the pretext of receiving money.
Police said Mbuyi exited his vehicle and shot both victims while they were seated in their car. He later shot himself and died in the hospital.
Authorities said the attack was linked to an ongoing custody dispute, with the accused reportedly holding grievances against the woman. Investigators also indicated that Mbuyi had been dealing with personal distress, including the recent loss of his father, and had earlier expressed troubling thoughts.
Officials said evidence gathered so far points to a deliberate and targeted act rather than a spontaneous incident.
The shooting, which took place near a school, has shocked the local community. School authorities have since offered counselling support to students and families affected by the incident.
