US President Donald Trump’s Truth Social account has increasingly evolved into far more than a standard presidential social media feed. It now functions simultaneously as a campaign platform, grievance board, political attack machine and official communications channel.
According to a Wall Street Journal report, one woman has emerged as a central figure behind much of that activity: Natalie Harp.
The 34-year-old executive assistant to Trump reportedly plays a key role in shaping and managing the president’s late-night Truth Social activity, including reposts amplifying conspiracy theories, attacks on political opponents, inflammatory memes and AI-generated imagery.
The scrutiny around Harp intensified after several controversial Truth Social posts drew backlash, including an AI-generated image portraying Trump as a Christ-like figure and another video containing racist imagery depicting former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama as apes.
While the White House publicly blamed an unnamed staffer for “erroneously" posting the Obama video, people familiar with the matter told WSJ that Harp was the aide who uploaded both posts at Trump’s direction.
All About Natalie Harp
Harp first entered Trump’s political orbit during his first term and gained national attention during the 2020 Republican National Convention.
A bone cancer survivor, Harp emotionally credited Trump’s “Right to Try" healthcare policy with saving her life. The law allows terminally ill patients access to experimental treatments that have not yet received full regulatory approval. “I wouldn’t be alive today if it wasn’t for you," Harp told Trump during the convention speech.
However, experts later questioned Harp’s claims about the policy’s role in her treatment. Medical experts told the Washington Post that the timeline and treatment details she described suggested Trump’s policy may have had little or no impact on her survival.
After later hosting a programme on conservative broadcaster One America News Network (OANN), Harp formally joined Trump’s wider political operation following his 2020 election defeat.
According to a 2024 New York Times report, Harp became known inside Trump’s orbit for her intense loyalty and constant proximity to the president during the difficult post-election period. She would reportedly accompany Trump almost everywhere, carrying a laptop and sometimes even a portable printer so she could show him flattering articles, social media posts and supportive commentary in real time.
The habit reportedly earned her the nickname “human printer". NYT reported that Harp’s efforts were partly aimed at keeping Trump’s spirits up following his 2020 election loss.
“She keeps everybody in a really good mood, and most importantly, she keeps the president in a really good mood," former White House physician and Republican Congressman Ronny Jackson told Fox News Digital in 2024.
How Does Trump’s Truth Social Operation Work?
Trump’s Truth Social account now operates as a nearly round-the-clock amplification system blending the president’s own messaging with reposts from conservative influencers, anonymous users and fringe social media accounts. Much of the content attacks Democrats, journalists, judges, universities, immigrants and political opponents.
WSJ reported that Harp compiles screenshots and draft posts that she or Trump advisers believe would appeal to the president. These drafts are physically printed out and shown to Trump for approval before being uploaded onto Truth Social — often late at night, over weekends or during holidays.
According to the report, Trump personally signs off on all content posted through the account, though White House officials acknowledged that the president also uploads some posts himself.
The scale of the operation has expanded sharply during Trump’s second term. The account’s following has grown from around 8.6 million followers to roughly 12.6 million, while Trump and his staff have published at least 8,800 posts since his return to the White House.
The account’s most intense posting bursts often happen overnight. On one Monday alone, Trump’s Truth Social account reportedly published 55 posts between 10:14 pm and 1:12 am. The posts included false claims about the 2020 election being stolen, calls for former President Barack Obama’s arrest and complaints that Democrats had not been indicted by the Justice Department.
The WSJ identified 44 separate instances where the account posted a dozen or more times between 8 pm and 6 am. One of the busiest nights reportedly came on December 1, when the account published nearly 160 posts between evening and midnight. In another instance, following a military operation in Venezuela earlier this year, Trump’s account reportedly posted nearly 90 times within about an hour.
Since fighting involving Iran escalated on February 28, the account has reportedly posted more than 240 texts, videos and messages linked to the Middle East conflict.
Why Has The Account Become So Controversial?
The WSJ reported that roughly one in 10 text-based posts from the account contains insults such as “crooked", “sleazebag", “loser" or “low IQ". The phrase “Fake News" reportedly appears nearly 140 times. The account has also repeatedly targeted migrants and minority communities.
Since January 2025, the account has published more than 120 posts critical of Somalia or Somali people, including attacks involving Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.
The most controversial posts associated with Harp’s role, however, involved the AI-generated Christ-like image of Trump and the Obama video featuring racist imagery. Both posts were later deleted after backlash from Democrats and Republicans alike.
When asked about Harp’s role, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung declined to discuss internal processes but defended Truth Social’s role in Trump’s political communication strategy.
“Truth Social has never been hotter, and it’s because President Trump offers his unfiltered and direct thoughts to the American people, without the biased media taking him out of context," Cheung said.
“We don’t discuss internal deliberations of how the process works, but no other social-media tool has been more effective than Truth."
WSJ also reported that Harp has frustrated some White House officials because she allegedly does not share draft posts with the chief of staff’s office, communications aides or national security officials before uploading them. She has told colleagues that she works only for Trump and “only listens to him".
