Three dead, several injured in Puri stampede near Gundicha temple

At least three people lost their lives and several others were injured in a stampede that took place early Sunday near Saradhabali, close to the Gundicha Temple in Puri, as reported by the PTI.

TOI reported citing officials at the Puri district headquarters hospital identified the deceased as Premakanta Mohanty (80), Basanti Sahoo (36), and Prabhati Das (42).

The incident occurred between 4:00 and 5:00 a.m. when a massive crowd of weekend pilgrims had gathered to catch a glimpse of the deities on their chariots, TOI reported.
