President Donald Trump all but confirmed his threats to send troops to San Francisco will soon be a reality in an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures.”

During a meandering conversation that took up all of this weekend’s episode, the president defended his controversial crime crackdown as he claimed that Washington, D.C., was a “death trap” before he ordered the National Guard to patrol the capital.

Turning his attention to another city currently occupied by the National Guard, Trump claimed that citizens of Chicago love having soldiers there and it’s only leaders like Illinois’ Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker who are opposed.

Imagining if he were in Pritzker’s shoes, Trump said, “If I were him, if I were a Democrat and I with were I were him, I’d say, come on in. What do you have to lose?”

TRUMP: If I were a Democrat, I'd say, 'Come on in.' What do you have to lose?

BARTIROMO: And you're going to San Francisco next

TRUMP: We're gonna go to San Francisco. The difference is I think they want us in San Francisco. 15 year ago, it went woke. pic.twitter.com/49NqlcoGui

Bartiromo then asked if the president has plans to deploy the National Guard to San Francisco, a city he’s threatened to send the military to multiple times before.

Trump was happy to confirm that Northern California’s main metropolis was next on his list of places to order the military.

Though state and local politicians like Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and Speaker Emeritus Nancy Pelosi have made it clear they are opposed to the presence of federal troops, the president told Bartiromo he believes the people of San Francisco are eager to have them.

“San Francisco was truly one of the great cities of the world, and then 15 years ago it went wrong. It went woke,” he said of the city, which Republicans often point to when talking about the failures of Democratic leadership.

“We’re going to go to San Francisco, and we’re going to make it great. We’re going make it great. It’ll be great again,” Trump continued. “San Francisco’s a great city. It won’t be great if it keeps going like this.”
