The people who are part of Donald Trump’s TruthSocial platform may be true believers of the president, but that didn’t stop some of them from criticizing his much-maligned post about Rob Reiner’s death.
Reiner and his wife, Michele, were found dead Sunday night in their Los Angeles home. Their 32-year-old son, Nick, has been “booked for murder” in their deaths and is currently behind bars on $4 million bail.
Although many people on social media paid respects and expressed sadness about the tragedy, Trump wasn’t one of them.
Instead, Trump’s TruthSocial post was a master class in being a jerk, especially the part where he claimed Reiner’s death was “reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.”
Trump’s post has been bipartisanly condemned by people on social media, as well as some Republicans in Washington, but the most surprising reaction has been from people on TruthSocial.
Many weren’t happy with Trump’s Reiner rant, which was unusual, considering the platform only exists to give him full reign to express his thoughts to the MAGA faithful without any pushback.
But oh, there was pushback.
HuffPost reached out to the White House for comment on the criticism the president’s Reiner post is getting, but no one immediately responded.
